This Giving Tuesday, Give the Gift of Education

November 27, 2019

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday on December 3rd kicks off the holiday charitable season. Fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving. Now in its 8th year, Giving Tuesday has become a global movement, which now includes organizations from 161 communities across the world. In the previous seven years, over $1billion has been donated to nonprofit organizations, creating an enormous impact that lasts all year long.

With less than a week to go until Giving Tuesday, The Foundation For Tomorrow is excited to announce that we will be selling handcrafted pencil pouches, made by TFFT’s terrifically talented alum, Agnes, in order to raise funds for school supplies for 2020 for our scholars. Agnes, an orphan herself, studied tailoring and beading after she graduated from high school and started her own tailoring business soon after. Agnes is the first woman in her family to be educated past elementary school. She faced many challenges along her journey, including her communities attempt to have her marry at a very young age. She was determined to use education as her pathway to success. Her story shows the many roads to success and demonstrates TFFT’s commitment to students, their value, and the promise of each child. Agnes’ beautiful designs are one of a kind and are made from locally sourced materials and fabrics. Her pouches, made from striking Tanzanian kitenge cloth, are extremely versatile, provide great storage, and are a wonderful gift!

TFFT is thrilled to partner with Paper Skyscraper, a Charlotte institution, for Giving Tuesday! Agnes’ handcrafted bags will be for sale in Paper Skyscraper, as well as online (please check our Facebook page and our Instagram account for more details). By purchasing one of Agnes’ bags, you are contributing to positive change in the lives of the students and teachers that TFFT supports. Each purchase will contribute to TFFT’s Giving Tuesday campaign, with an overall goal of $10,000.

Be a part of Giving Tuesday, the global giving movement that harnesses the power of community to strengthen TFFT’s ability to combat vulnerability through the power of education. Your support makes it possible for us to continue to provide hope and opportunity to other students like Agnes!
