An Evening for Education

One week ago today, we raised over $225,000 at the 13^th annual S.O.S. Gala, sponsored by Sonic Automotive. This is more than TFFT has ever raised at an S.O.S. Gala ever before. Our hearts are bursting with joy and optimism as the success of this weekend continues to sink in.

TFFT began thirteen years ago as a movement to provide scholarships for vulnerable triplets facing an uncertain future and has grown into an organization that not only provides educational scholarships to children, but transforms the wider learning environment.

The Foundation For Tomorrow’s mission is to secure quality education and emotional support for orphan and vulnerable children so that they may reach their full potential and thrive in their communities. Focused on work in Tanzania, TFFT envisions a world where all children contribute to society as active and empowered citizens free of exclusion, disadvantage, and vulnerability. The funds and awareness raised at the Gala last weekend strengthen our ability to pursue our mission and strive towards our vision.

We believe that access to quality education is a human right. Children around the world deserve the opportunity to learn in an environment that nurtures learning. In order to set our scholars up for success outside of the classroom, we seek to create conditions in which opportunities to dream abound. Tanzanian youth are Tanzania’s future makers, leaders, and entrepreneurs. Our scholars, along with the rest of the Tanzanian youth population, will shape the future of Tanzania. An educated population is vital for national growth and success. The nation relies on their ability not only to dream, but to pursue their dreams with confidence and the necessary skills and ability. We take every step to foster the personal growth and development of our scholars so that they are empowered and emboldened to pursue every opportunity and follow whichever pathway they choose.  In order to unlock the potential of our scholars, it is important that their aspirations, whatever they may be, are limitless. TFFT’s Scholarship Program, rooted in a Whole Child approach, equips our scholars with the tools to follow the direction of their dreams and reach their full potential.

Fundraising and philanthropy is a large part of our culture at TFFT. We are lucky to have a group of supporters that believe wholeheartedly in our mission and continue to propel TFFT further. Congratulation to Cate DuPuy, the winner of TFFT’s Kiongozi Award. We are inspired by her activism in the Charlotte community!

This year’s Gala was special for a number of reasons but we enjoyed being able to share our work in Tanzania with our guests in a new way. Thank you to VirtualRealityRental.co for the incredible VR headsets that made it possible for our guests to experience Tanzania in a completely unique way by walking around in the shoes of Baraka, one of our scholars, and Mr. Mdee, a Tanzanian school teacher. This simulated experience really brought TFFT’s work to life and served as a reminder of what we were celebrating and why!
