As our students grow older, we are looking for more opportunities after Secondary School.  Through Joshua Nassari and Africaid, we were introduced earlier this month to the African Leadership Academy, who has an Advanced Level program in South Africa.  We have 4 students who are applying to this prestigious program.  Below are excerpts from one of their application questions:

What is your vision for your country/Africa?  What do you see as your contribution to your country and the betterment of Africa?

We all live for the purpose of making the world a better place to live in.  For this reason, my vision for my country is a change to be done in the education system and improvement in this social service, to bring good learning environment for students to achieve their goals efficiently.

I also see that there should be good universities where everyone can study to achieve his/her goals, especially becoming a great pilot.  This change can only be brought by current students including myself.  Tanzanian students should be well prepared with the well technologically advanced world which is full of many challenges.  Through good education, we will be able to prepare good leaders who will serve the citizens well, enhancing individual and national development.  This will automatically lead to the betterment of my country, Tanzania.

Another vision is to establish an organisation which will reduce or eliminate the problem of street children so as to reduce the dependent ratio.  I conclude by saying that we need responsible leaders for the betterment of our country and our continent.

My vision for my country and Africa as well is to support people who are in hardship.  This by sharing with people the life skills education that I have had.

More encouragement to people who deal with agriculture is also very important.  My country is very behind on agricultural issues.  This is because most people take it as a simple activity whereby the farmers suffer that lack of support from the government.  So I will fight for my country to be known as a very good supporter in agricultural activities.  By doing this, the farmer will create and be more confident with their activities.  Also, some of the African countries facing the same problems will benefit as well.

If I become a good business person, I will provide job  opportunities  to people, then at the same time I will take some few hours in training them on how to start a business on their own and give out the life skills and self esteem that I know.  I know that by sharing ideas with my employees, some of them may be able to start a business and support other people.  It doesn’t matter whether they will compete with me!

Join me in wishing these students the best of luck with this and other applications to programs that will help them grow into the change-makers that they want to become!
