Over the next few weeks, leading up to RIDETZ, we are going to be introducing the 11 wonderful, enthusiastic, and excited riders, who will be taking off on June 16th!  This way, you can learn about the riders before they leave, and then you can follow them through their journey on the blog as we post updates throughout the ride!  Meet Patty and Stu Spencer…  

1)     Where are you from?

We are from Seattle, Washington.

2)     What do you do for work?

Stu is a veterinarian, and Patty is a nurse.

3)     What do you like to do on your spare time?

We both love going to our cabin in the North Cascades where we cross country ski, hike and bike.  We also both love to travel!

4)     Who is your inspiration in life?

Our inspiration in life has been Stu’s parents.  They were an amazing couple who lived life to its fullest.  They have been an inspiration professionally (both were physicians), in how they raised their family, always putting family first, and in how they lived their lives with love and grace.

5)     How did you hear about RIDETZ?

We learned about RIDETZ 4 years ago when we traveled to Tanzania and first became familiar with Meghann and TFFT.

6)     What inspired you to want to ride this June?

Meghann came to visit us in Seattle and for a “thank you”, gave us a copy of the “400 Miles” photo book.  We were inspired by Kaitlin’s beautiful pictures from that ride, and knew that this was something we HAD to do!  Unfortunately, the timing didn’t work out for the last ride, and we were thrilled that this time the dates were perfect!

7)     Are you celebrating any milestone with RIDETZ?

I guess the milestone might be for Patty; this is the last big ride that she will do in her 50’s!  YIKES!!!!!

8)     What is your favorite place to ride? (besides Tanzania that is)

Stu is a mountain biker, and he loves biking near our cabin in the North Cascades, and also loves riding in the southwest.  Patty loves riding near Lake Washington.

9)     What unique ways are you planning to fundraise?

For us, having Kaitlin come visit to kick off our fundraising party was the best!
