Over the next few weeks, leading up to RIDETZ, we are going to be introducing the 11 wonderful, enthusiastic, and excited riders, who will be taking off on June 16th! This way, you can learn about the riders before they leave, and then you can follow them through their journey on the blog as we post updates throughout the ride!
1) Where are you from?
Winston-Salem, NC
2) What do you do for work? I work at Teach For America as a Manager, Teacher Leadership & Development (MTLD)—basically I coach a group of 31 wonderful 1st and 2nd year teachers in English, Social Studies, and Spanish.
3) What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love cooking, reading, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
4) Who is your inspiration in life?
The students I taught for three years at James Martin Middle School—their intelligence, passion, and resilience is a daily inspiration.
5) How did you hear about RIDETZ?
I heard about RIDETZ through Kaitlin—a dear friend from college and now my wonderful roommate. Through our friendship, I got to hear about her experiences as a photographer in 2010 and a rider in 2012 and decided that I didn’t want to miss out on this extraordinary opportunity!
6) What inspired you to want to ride this June?
Well, my wonderful friend Kaitlin Rogers! 🙂 On a larger scale, I’m inspired to ride to support the work TFFT does to advocate for children’s access to quality education and expanded life opportunities in Tanzania. Educational equity is both my personal and professional passion and through TFFT, I am able to widen my scope a bit!
7) Are you celebrating any milestone with RIDETZ?
Not particularly?
8) What is your favorite place to ride? (besides Tanzania that is)
We are so excited to have Rachel joining us on the ride! If you would like to support Rachel’s RIDETZ campaign, you can do so here.
