(Whoops! No power, we tried to post this a few days earlier.)

We’re past the midway hump, fully exhausted while also a tad energized after a much needed sleep in today! Up here in the Usambara Mountains we’re seeing some of the most breathtaking views Tanzania has to offer.

Yesterday, after a 25 mile morning ride through mud, sand, dust and a sisal plantation, we enjoyed an extended lunch and then hiked our way 3 miles straight up to Irente View Point. Our riders amazed us with such strength (nguvu) as they fought through the pain of the climb. Many were also stricken with “Montezuma’s revenge,” yet still conquered such a feat.

Today we head to visit our TFFT Student rider’s grandfather’s home here in Lushoto as well as Irente Children’s Home (TFFT partner orphanage), the place Simon spent his early years.

Enjoy the pictures… we will be back to you with a more full report next week!
