Join Us: SOS Gala

It's that time of year again! October is here, and with it comes the craziness of planning for our two biggest events of the year: the S.O.S Gala here in Charlotte and our Young Founders Event in New York City. These events give us the incredible chance to see, thank, and hug many of the

SOS Gala Invites

Where the heck did this week go?! Stateside we have completely consumed with getting the invitations for the S.O.S Gala prepped, assembled, stuffed, sorted, and off to the post office. We picked up everything from the printer Monday evening. Dave, John, Lisa, and everyone at Allegra Southend takes such good care of TFFT's printing needs.

BACK TO SCHOOL

It was Saturday morning September 1, 2012, and we were driving all over Arusha collecting the items that our scholarship kids will use in the coming three months of their school term. We went from one store to the other collecting toothpastes, laundry soaps, bathing soaps, Vaselines, kiwi, toilet papers and many more things. Surprised?

A GRADUATION SPEECH

Meghann was the Guest of Honor at Usa River Academy's graduation ceremony on Saturday. I thought you might like to read the words of wisdom that she imparted to the graduates. I wish we could have video of this--I can just imagine every TFFT student beaming with pride while she spoke! And now, I introduce

MONDAY

Dickson spent two days in the hospital last week for what we thought was appendicitis. Thankfully it turned out it was just severe stomach cramps. Dickson wrote you the following piece about his experience.  Monday. It was a funny day when I was feeling sick.  I was feeling scared after being taken to the hospital

Celebrating the Graduates!

Tomorrow we will cheer proudly as seven of our Scholarship Students graduate-- four from primary school (like middle school) and three from Form 4 (like part-one of high school). As you can imagine, this is a very exciting occasion for the entire TFFT family, and we do our best to pull all the stops to show

Maggie’s Visit

(Maggie's back! If you didn't read yesterday's post, we'd suggest starting there...) I think the biggest way I've felt connected to TFFT is through my communication with Richard Francis, the student we sponsor through our high school club. Receiving letters, report cards, and pictures from Richard helps me realize how big of an influence TFFT's

Leading a TFFT Club

Today's post is from Maggie Boorman. Maggie is just starting her freshman year at Clemson University after spending many of her high school years leading her school's TFFT Club. We like to think of Maggie as TFFT's little elf... there have been countless ways that she has given of herself to benefit TFFT (if you

CHLOE’S 4-MONTH REFLECTION

While for most people this back-to-school extravaganza at Usa River Academy marked little more than the beginning of the third term, for me it actually marked a change in my life—or at least alerted me of a change that had already taken place. You may remember that I had been in Tanzania for a

Happy Holiday Weekend!

Gosh, we weren't very good at posting this week. I promise we have many great posts in store for the coming weeks, but I just couldn't let the day pass without a quick note to you from TFFT! We hope you have some fun planned for Labor Day Weekend. Just thinking about a long, relaxing
